Black Mountain Ranch was established in 1971 as a non-profit organization in the State of Washington. Ours is a family campground with members from Canada and the United States. The Ranch is run by a Board of Trustees elected by the Members. Membership at the Ranch is limited to 1000 members, and each membership is entitled to one designated campsite. Each member has their designated campsite for their exclusive use, (this is not a timeshare), as well as access to all recreational facilities on the Ranch.
Annual membership dues are $1,838.48 U.S. funds , paid in quarterly installments of $459.62. Quarterly dues are made up of three charges, which include: membership dues ($338.30), capital improvement dues ($70.01), and mandatory Comcast basic cable services ($51.21) making the quarterly total $459.62, which does not include electricity usage. Membership dues cover the costs associated with running the Ranch, including upkeep of the golf course, horses, pools, tennis courts, etc.
Individual campsite setups vary, based on member preferences. Some members keep it simple, while others have elaborate park-model trailers with full landscaping! Each campsite has water, a septic hookup, and power. (The Ranch charges reimbursement for the power used.)
Interested? See our Memberships for Sale in our Ads section! Self-guided tours of the Ranch are allowed if you leave a driver’s license with Security or Office staff. However, on Special Event and Long Holiday Weekends, this policy is suspended, including Canadian holidays. ALL sales are negotiated between the existing member and the prospective buyer – not the Ranch itself. Upon any sale of a membership, the Ranch will conduct a transfer process to facilitate the changing of the certificate of membership from the current member to the new member.
Black Mountain Ranch offers a full menu of spectacular recreational opportunities! Awaiting your family’s pleasure at “Your Campers’ Country Club” is a nine-hole par-3 golf course, indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools, saunas, an arts and crafts center, a library/lounge, a new state-of-the-art recreation center, tennis courts, playgrounds, large gymnasium, an 18-hole mini-golf course and much, much more! All rides on Ranch horses are supervised by our trained Barn Manager / Wrangler.
In addition to all the amenities that are a part of your membership at the Ranch, there are many member-coordinated clubs and social activities that you may participate in. You can get a better idea about some of the other activities offered at the Ranch by viewing the Events page.
While there are a host of activities that you and your family may participate in on the Ranch, we also have access to some of the most spectacular outdoor activities around! Black Mountain Ranch is just a short drive away from Mount Baker, home to some of the best skiing, snowboarding, hiking, rafting and fishing to be found anywhere! Located only a short 7-mile scenic drive from Black Mountain Ranch is the beautiful Whatcom County Parks Dept., Silver Lake Park. Silver Lake is a 70-acre lake that is great for trout fishing, canoeing and/or paddle boating. The Park offers perfect opportunity for wildlife watching, family nature hiking or jogging, picnics and a multitude of other activities. In addition to fabulous outdoor activities, Black Mountain Ranch is a half-hour drive from Bellingham and Lynden, Washington, both of which offer cinemas, theaters, restaurants, shopping, galleries and many other activities.
Just the beautiful mountain views from the grounds of Black Mountain Ranch alone add a magical sense to the pleasurable experience of time spent here.
Below are views of Red Mountain in late Spring from across our horse pasture just to the North; an early afternoon full moon above Bald Mountain just northeast of the Ranch; and beautiful sunset colors reflecting off a snow covered Church Mountain directly east of us. Stunning and different with every season! Also a view of the horse pasture on a frosty autumn morning with Red Mountain and our namesake Black Mountain in the background. Just across the Mt. Baker Hwy. from the front of the Ranch (to the west) is a view of Sumas Mountain and a small farm where some Ranch Members board their own horses.
